Safety Practices – Skill in operating a motor vehicle safely to include: Proper load distribution, securing the load properly, setting up the vehicle for installed crane operation, parking on slopes, vehicle crane operation.
Basic knowledge of safe rigging principles and practices, as per District Rigging Training
Basic knowledge of the principles and operation of: Pumps, Motors, Valves, Regulators, Pneumatic Tools, Hydraulic Systems, Chemical Feed Systems
Basic knowledge of the various types of pump/motor couplings used by the District
Basic knowledge of the proper use and maintenance of hand and power tools
Basic knowledge of the proper use and maintenance of: metal fabrication tools, band saws, pipe threading machines, drill press, grinders
Basic knowledge of the methods, materials and tools used in plumbing installation and repair
Knowledge of the principles, operation and basic troubleshooting of gear and winch systems
Mechanical Shop Practice: inspection and maintenance of pumps, valves and motors
Basic skills in the use of measuring devices, such as: scales, tape rules, micrometers, dial indicators, vernier calipers
Basic skills in reading mechanical drawings and manuals
